Very Short Interview, Part 2

From where I stand now, my impression of my initial interview is a little bit shocked. I knew Vincent was a very intelligent man, but I didn’t think his advice would be completely perfect for this entire class. When telling me these things, I thought it was just a general thing; mainly for once you enter the working force, not for this course.
I was unable to record my interview with Vincent this weekend, since he was out of town, but I did speak to him over the phone. These we’re the questions I asked him, and the responses I was given:

1.     Do you think taking this course helped you get where you are today, or is it more of a “learn as you go” kind of job?
·      “That’s a little bit of a difficult question because frankly, it’s both. The course helps you much more than you’ll realize. You’re doing assignments because you have to, because you don’t want a failing grade. But the things that you have learned in this course will make you a better entrepreneur in the long run. You’re always learning new things in this industry, everyday, but it all starts with school and the fundamentals.”
2.     Are you happy with where you are in your career?
·      “Absolutely. I love what I do and my education is what got me here. Sure, my days are long, always. And I usually work at least one day during the weekend, if not both, but I would never change that. I enjoy what I do and because of it I’ve been able to give my family a great life, and I would never trade that for anything.”
3.     What would you say the best thing about being an entrepreneur is?
·      “I’d say the best part about it is that things are always changing. Nothing is the same for too long so things are always new and exciting. That can make work hectic and stressful, but I’d rather have that than be bored.”

Compared to the beginning of the course, I felt as though I was much more confident in my interview with Vincent. My questions to him came out more naturally and it felt like I was having more of a conversation with him, rather than interrogating him. He actually noticed and said that I seemed much more talkative than the last time!

  1. Hey Stephanie! I really liked reading through your blog post, I thought it was structured nicely, which made it really easy to read. Similar to your reflection, I also felt much more confident during my interview the second time around.
